Formal Dining Room Reveal
Our formal dining room reveal is here! The dining room was one of the most dated rooms with its brass chandelier and carpeted floors. Prior to the renovation, I installed a Pottery Barn chandelier because I was tired of running into the original chandelier. I loved this room because of its big windows, and my original office was in there. Once the renovation was complete, it became our formal dining room. I’m absolutely in LOVE with how it turned out.

Before Photos of Our Dining Room
These photos definitely highlight the best features of the room. The big space. The gorgeous windows. We ended up moving the entrance to the kitchen (not seen in these photos) and removing the separation between the front rooms. I have my Pottery Barn project desk back in there for now, but I’d love to invest in one of the Bernhardt pieces that complements our table.
After Photos & Our Formal Dining Room Reveal!
Despite the fact that I don’t spend as much time in here now, it’s still one of my favorite rooms in the house. Moving the dividing wall to square off the kitchen helped make the room look way more modern. You can’t even tell that we messed with the walls now!
For the walls, I used Ralph Lauren Metallic paint and the painter ended up spraying it on instead of using the roller technique I learned at the Home Depot workshop. This resulted in a more understated metallic look, but it’s still elegant. I may end up repainting (or wallpapering – all the metallic wallpaper options!) at some point because there’s a little more of a green undertone to the paint than I like. It’s still pretty through. Note: they did warn us that the paint may be really hard to touch up because they sprayed it on instead of rolling it.
My Pottery Barn chandelier got upgraded in a HUGE way when I found this crystal chandelier on clearance at Horchow. It was less than $400. I kid thee not. We had planned on purchasing one during our honeymoon in Venice, but when I found this great deal, I couldn’t pass it up!
I still have quite a bit of decorating to do – as far as figuring out what I want to put on the walls – but the rug opens up ALL the possibilities. It’s just a matter of taking the time to work on it. I had such a great experience with Framebridge that I think I’ll likely do something with the photos from our adventures.
