Highlighting the best parts of our NYC anniversary trip!
If you’re looking for a more comprehensive guide to the city, Kayla has a great itinerary for 4 days in NYC that includes everything we missed, including the Highline, Battery Park, and more! She even includes the best places for dinner and drinks each day. Maybe next time we’ll try the bike ride through Central Park!
- It’s Only a Play. Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane? Rupert Grint and Channing Stockard? TOTALLY IN. Third row center? A WIN ALL THE WAY AROUND. I might be obsessed with seeing Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane on Broadway. Everything they do is amazing.
- My Hubs throwing up elbows to get me the best vantage point at Top of the Rock? We took “professional” photographs that will likely never see the light of day because it was SO HOT and I looked SO GROSS. Should have booked an NYC anniversary shoot in retrospect!
- Imagining myself at Columbia University? Not imagining myself at Barnard? Done and done.
- Seeing Wicked for the 13th time. (Seriously though.)
- Walking MILES for the best pizza ever? (Thanks for suggesting it, Kelli!)
- My sweet husband bringing flowers to our hotel room on our actual anniversary? I nearly died. (I also nearly died when we had to leave them in NYC. Sad times.)
- An eternity necklace from my sweet hubs brought all the way from Dallas? For the first year of our eternity? I die. There were lots of tears on Sunday. Lots and lots.
- Long walks through Central Park with my sweet hubs… in the rain… in the heat… and on the most beautiful day ever? Yes, we did lots of time in Central Park. I definitely couldn’t get enough of the late summer sun. We got caught in a freak rainstorm, but we kept wandering the park. The views didn’t disappoint! The changing light from the rainstorm to the sun fading behind the skyline made it far more romantic than I ever expected a park to be. But my sweet Hubs? He was far too enamored with the massive green space to be romantic with me. 😉
- Window shopping on Madison (hello beautiful Kate Spade store)… home shopping in Bloomingdale’s… and watching my Hubs get rooked on M&Ms ($12.99 A POUND?!) at the Times Square store…
We seriously had the BEST 1st anniversary ever. And yes, some guy in the elevator reminded my Hubs that he was setting the bar far too high for the first year… but I don’t care. It was magical… and I so love this man. With all my heart. My whole, whole heart.
What a great time! I LOVED NYC

Oh wow what a dreamy weekend in New York! It sounds like you had so many sweet moments and it sounds like you have a keeper 🙂
Glad you had such a fun time in my sweet city! Bethesda Fountain is my very favorite place in the park 🙂
Some guy told the Hubs he was setting the bar too high? Who DOES that? Him, apparently. Talk about cynical and curmudgeonly.
So glad you had a good time and Cynical Guy can forget his toepads and then have to bourree across the floor twice.
Aww congratulations! I hope you have many more 🙂 what a great first year celebration!!!
