A good marriage is about compromise. Tom wanted to go to Italy, so I agreed. 😆

In all truth, seeing him embrace travel and grow so much because of it has been the most fun (continuous) adventure we’ve had together. And to know Tom is to love Tom and recognize that he likes to do the same things again and again because they always get better. 💙

(He’s not wrong.)

PRO TIP: Level up your hotel experience by allowing the guest relations team to plan something exclusive to your interests. We’ve done these types of bespoke guest experiences twice at @stregisflorence and we’ve never been disappointed. 💙🫒 (In all fairness, the probably know us better than we know ourselves!)

This particular experience was an olive oil tasting with the Winter Garden sommelier, Lorenzo. Together with the chef, Lorenzo designed an olive oil + food pairing menu specifically for us. In addition to teaching us more about the production of olive oil, he also taught us how to taste it and which foods bring out the specific flavors in olive oil. We tried 5 vastly different olive oils, and we experienced them with traditional Tuscan favorites. This isn’t something we would have planned for ourselves, but the @stregishotels team knew we would enjoy. Lorenzo’s excitement for olive oil was palpable and it made it that much better for us. 💙🫒

Here’s to the one who finds last minute flights when your spring break plans get cancelled… and to the @stregisflorence for ALWAYS making everything memorable, even after 16 stays… 🤗🤣🤭

You know what? It’s okay to do something because you like it. You don’t need another reason. 💙

Tonight we went to our second 🍷 around the world dinner at @fearingsdallas… and while everything is amazing, that’s not what leaves me dumbstruck. I’m in awe of the creativity of the chefs. I’m struck by their humility. I love how much they love what they do and what they create. And tonight, I’m left pondering Paul’s point… as a chef, you might never know how much joy you bring to others. You don’t get to see it.

Are you showing others how much joy they bring you? Do you look for moments to share joy and appreciation for those who might not get to have That Moment? If not, why not? 🤔💭

This whole month has been the equivalent of at lea

This whole month has been the equivalent of at least 3 months! I just realized I never got around to posting this reel (and blogpost) about one of my favorite hotels in #AlsaceFrance, @5terreshotelspa.mgallery 💙 We stayed there for the first time in February 2020 and went back last summer. Everything was just as perfect as I remembered.

There are a lot of beautiful towns in the Alsace, but I love these places that are a little off the beaten track of the #routeduvin… in fact, I loved it so much that we’re already planning our third trip.

One of the things I’ve been more intentional abo

One of the things I’ve been more intentional about this month is mediation. This morning’s @onepeloton mediation was exactly what I’ve been trying to do this month: tune into the frequency of gratitude. 💙

The world is on fire for so many people, there is no question about that. However, as @thegaymillennialtherapist also rightly pointed out this weekend, you cannot affect change if you aren’t looking inward and taking care of your soul and spirit. We must find ways to channel or despair (or doomscrolling) into productive action.

Last week, @_jencutie reminded me of something my dad used to say, “Every day above ground is a good day.” My dad died at 43. He didn’t see me live past my 10th birthday. He didn’t get to celebrate life’s milestones with his family. We didn’t get more mini-golf or ice cream dates. I never got to ask him about what he loved, where he would like to visit most, or why he did the things he did. There were no more sunrises, sunsets, rainy days - good days or bad days.

There is much to be disappointed about, sure, but we must never lose sight of how lucky we are to exist… and then make the choice about how we wish to do so. 💙
